Our studio has grown from strength to strength since 2016 and we now offer a wide range of dance styles that cater of all ages and abilities. Here at JD Dance Studio not only can you enjoy our classes at a social level but we train dancers to compete at some of the World’s most prestigious competitions as well as preparing students for further education in dance! We offer anything from Dance Fitness fun to Elite Competition Training at our weekly classes. Our fully qualified Instructors strive to provide our students with the most professional and enjoyable experience at JD Dance studio classes whatever your aspiration may be.
We take great pride in creating opportunities for our students to showcase the hard work and talent that they have. Our students have secured resident roles in Pantomimes and Parades and have been hired as entertainment for Events and TV appearances. What we are best known for is the amazing success of our Elite Competition Team who competes at Competitions all over the world including travelling to events in France, Florida and South Africa. The team’s success speaks for itself with a combination of over 40 World and European titles over the last 5 years.
We are also delighted to be able to offer Studio Hire to other Fitness and Dance instructors in the area. Our Studio facilities are modern, spacious and fully kitted with a spring dance floor and mirrors. Along with this JD Dance Studio is fully supportive of all your needs and will help to market your classes in any way we can.

With over 10 years’ experience as a Professional Dancer, Performer, Choreographer and Teacher she’s trained in various dance styles and graduated with a BA Hons Degree in Dance Development from Buckinghamshire New University. Jess is also a qualified Personal Trainer, Certified Acrobatic Arts Level One Teacher, and a Certified Judge with World Dance Masters. She has had the opportunity to appear on TV shows and documentaries such as :Keep her Country BBC/RTE1 and The One Show BBC1 and to worked as a Choreographer for CITV series – Ted’s Top Ten!
Rebecca Sweeney
Hip Hop & Solostyle
Rebecca has been teaching at JD Dance Studio for many years, sharing her experience and passion with the next generation of dancers. As the studio has continued to grow, she now also teaches young dancers at our Castleblayney location, helping students develop their confidence, technique and love of performing.
To further her knowledge and bring even more to her students, Rebecca studied Dance Technique, Performance and Choreography at college. Her training covered a wide range of disciplines and areas within the performing arts, including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary Dance, Choreography, Devising Theatre and Performance, Singing, and the Performing Arts Industry. This diverse training has helped shape her approach as both a dancer and teacher.
Alongside competing and teaching, Rebecca has enjoyed a variety of performance opportunities, including appearing as a background dancer in the CITV series Ted’s Top Ten.
With experience spanning competitive dance, professional performance, choreography and teaching, Rebecca continues to share her passion for dance while inspiring and encouraging young performers to develop their skills, confidence and enjoyment of the stage.
Lexi Kernan McGrath
Acro Dance
Lexi has been dancing for *19 years* and is an accomplished competitive line dancer, having achieved *many World and European Championship titles across different divisions, including Pro-Am and Solo*.
As an *Acrobatic Arts Certified Instructor, Lexi combines her competitive experience with her passion for teaching, specialising in acrobatics, strength, flexibility, balance and tumbling. She loves helping dancers build their **confidence, technique and skills*, while creating a fun and encouraging environment where every student can thrive
Shaleigha McGurgan
Musical Theatre
Shaleigha has been dancing with JD Dance Studio since the age of 7 and has grown into an accomplished dancer and teacher. Throughout her competitive career, she has achieved 38+ first-place titles, including World, European, Ulster, Irish Masters and All Ireland titles.
Her passion for dance has taken her around the world, competing and performing in South Africa, Spain, France and across the UK, giving her a wealth of experience both on and off the stage. She has also had performance opportunities including appearing as a background dancer on CITV’s Ted’s Top Ten.
Alongside her professional dance training, Shaleigha graduated from university with a First Class degree in Dance and Education, combining her love of dance with her passion for teaching.
Now, as part of the JD teaching team, she loves sharing her experience and knowledge with the next generation of dancers, helping them build their confidence, develop their technique and achieve their goals.
